NEW POLICY starts Monday - COME LATE, STAY LATE

Principal's message

Most students are at school on time. Thank you, parents. This new policy will not affect you or your child. For the ten to fifteen students who arrive to school just after the bell rings everyday, things are changing.

WHEN DOES THIS START?

Beginning Monday, March 4, all students who come late to school (beyond the three excused tardies allowed per year) will stay late on that same day. Come late - stay late.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

When students arrive after the bell, they will be assigned a detention for that same day in the Student Center from dismissal until 2:45. The time will be used to make up work and to strategize how to improve attendance. A phone call will be made to a parent or guardian.

WHY ADD THIS POLICY?

The law allows for three excused tardies per year. Car trouble? Alarm did not go off? No problem, up to three times. After that, it's considered unexcused. And being at school on time has more benefits, too. When students are here early, they have the opportunity to socialize with friends, connect with teachers and admins, and start the day with less stress.

For students missing a few minutes, we hope this policy will encourage better on time arrival.

Besides the consequence, this after school time will give the admin team time to work with students and help find solutions.

The goal is to have everyone here and on time everyday. We look forward to the day when the Student Center is empty after school because every is on time.
